Threads is coming back. Warp Films, the same lot behind Adolescence, are turning the BBC’s infamous 1984 nuclear-apocalypse drama into a modern TV series.

If you’ve never seen the original: good. Stay that way. It’s one of the bleakest things ever broadcast. Sheffield gets nuked, society collapses, and what follows is 90 minutes of pure misery with no music and no hope. It won BAFTAs and traumatised a generation.
Now it’s being reimagined as a full series. Warp says they’re keeping the grounded tone but updating the context. Same nuclear horror, different decade. No cast, no release date yet, just the confirmation that it’s happening.
Big question: Can a reboot of Threads actually work in 2025, or is this going to be a softened, focus-grouped version that misses the point?
Would you even want to watch it?
