After 13 years of nothing, there’s a rumour that Prototype 3 is in the works. And yes, Alex Mercer might be back in the lead.
According to an apparent Activision 'study group' leak, the game’s set in New York again, with Mercer gaining the ability to transform into people to infiltrate areas. Basically a return to the original concept, but with more stealth baked in.
Nothing’s confirmed, and let’s be honest, Prototype 2 didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Which is probably why the series got shelved in the first place. But now that Activision’s under Xbox, there's at least a chance they’ll dust this off as a first-party exclusive.
It’d be a hell of a move for Xbox. Not a superhero game in the traditional sense, but it’s still open-world chaos with ridiculous powers. Think of it as the angrier, bloodier cousin to Spider-Man.
