Throughout the 16 years (going to be 17 years) of Always Sunny running, we get to meet some amazing characters that make the show more funny, interesting and exciting. The main characters, Dennis, Charlie, Mac, Dee and Frank are definitely hilarious and it's really fun to watch their characters grow and get more in depth. But for some it's the other re-occuring characters who make the show for them.
Who is your favourite Always Sunny character and why?
If you need a little reminder of who the characters are here's a little about each of the lead characters and reoccurring characters.
Dennis, Charlie and Mac are owners of the bar called Patty's Pub, Dee is a waitress who works at the bar. The characters always try to pull a fast one or screw over other people but often find that they screw themselves over in the process.
Dennis a narcissist, charming (kind of), and often a manipulator. Throughout the seasons we get to watch Dennis obsess over his attractiveness, superior God like complex which leads him to darker, more disturbing behaviours such as manipulating woman with "the implication". In later seasons we get to watch his mental stability deteriorate, his delusions of grandeur and lack of empathy. He also eventually gets diagnosed as a sociopath.
Dee, Dennis' twin sister is often the ignored character/member of the gang. They pick on her, make a joke out of her and even call her a bird. Initially she is seen as a strait-laced character but overtime her jealousy, insecurities, and desperate attempts to be accepted and part of the gang become more pronounced. She really struggles to get accepted by the group but she is extremely self-aware and is able to see the group for who they truly are their and recognize their behaviours.
Charlie is the wild card. He's eccentric and chaotic which is entertaining to watch. He is deeply in love, infatuation and obsessed with the waitress and will not stop at anything to get her to date him. He isn't really smart but he truly does love the gang. He has odd pass times, he really loves cheese and is obsessed with rat catching. Sometimes his logic isn't really logical but that's what makes the character hilarious in my opinion.
Mac is the self proclaimed "cool guy" of the gang and he likes to see himself as the bar's security guard. He strongly focuses on his masculinity and physical strength. His character struggles with his sexuality and his faith. He seems confident at first but then starts exploring his true self.
Frank is the father (sort of) of Dee and Dennis. Frank is wealthy and wildly irresponsible. Franks motive seems to be about wealth and making money.
The waitress works at a coffee shop that the gang frequents. She gets caught up in the gangs ridiculous schemes and they often drag her into the chaos. She has a cold demeaner towards Charlie and though sometimes she seems nice to Charlie, she is only trying to get closer to Dennis.
Rickety Cricket also known as Matthew is another reoccurring character who starts off as a Catholic priest but gets involved in the gangs chaos. Cricket's transformation is one of the darkest and most absurd arcs on the show and is pretty entertaining to watch if I do say so myself.
There are more characters but I didn't want to create too long of a post, I just wanted to jog your memory and help you remember who your favourite character is. If you haven't already watched the show I would strongly suggest you watch it if you like comedies.
