What's the one gadget you thought was going to revolutionise your life but turned out to be a wet turd? Something which was either marketed to hell, or had everyone talking about it, but when you took the plunge reality was no where near expectation.
A couple of years ago I bought a projector. It was going to form the centre piece of a new media room. Screen sizes not hindered by the engineering limitations of a TV. It turned out to be a difficult piece of kit to get working, just a little bit of sunlight degraded the quality, and trying to get it set up so that you didn't have to watch it with your head at a stupid angle was tough. It's back in the box and under the bed where it's remained since that first try-out.
Anything you were amazed by and then let down badly?
