After six years in development, Nightdive have finally confirmed a release date for their remaster of the excellent System Shock 2, and that date is June 26th 2025.
It is available to pre-order on Steam and over at GOG too (and there's absolutely no difference in the price - £21.59 or whatever that is in dollars).
Running on the Kex Engine, Nightdive have reworked everything. Expect improvements in visuals, performance, UI, mod support (from day one!) and co-op mode is back. 4k resolution, ultra-wide support, controller options and achievements. It's been six years, so expect this to be the best possible version of System Shock 2.
Nightdive already proved they can do this kind of thing with the SS1 remake. This looks like SS2 the way you remember it, not the way it actually looked in 1999. If you haven’t played it, this is the version to start with.
Anyone else waiting on this one? Or has the wait already worn you down?
"System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is a genre defining experience that established innovative game-play mechanics that are a staple of the FPS and RPG genre today. Survive the wretched corridors of the Von Braun. Your training has prepared you for this."
