Fresh off an Oscar win for Anora, Mikey Madison is skipping the whole galaxy far, far away thing - for now. According to Variety, Madison was offered a role in the untitled Star Wars project being directed by Shawn Levy (the Deadpool & Wolverine guy). But talks ended, and she passed. No drama, just… nah.
The movie, still buried under a mountain of NDAs and Lucasfilm red tape, stars Ryan Gosling and is being billed as a standalone story, so no Skywalker baggage this time. It’s written by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project, This Is Where I Leave You) and is being produced by Levy’s 21 Laps along with Kathleen Kennedy, who continues her streak of producing every Star Wars thing not bolted to George Lucas’ garage.
Levy’s been developing the film since 2022, which in Star Wars years means it could still implode before it sees a title screen. But with The Mandalorian & Grogu officially locked in for May 2026, this might be next in line.
As for Madison, she’s probably got her pick of scripts right now. Anora was her big breakout, the first film she didn’t even have to audition for. She’s put in the work, and now she’s in that rare position to politely decline lightsabres in favour of, well, whatever she wants.
No word yet on who will take the mystery role she turned down. Knowing Star Wars, it'll either be a rising indie star, a Disney+ regular, or someone from Euphoria. Place your bets.
